Taber, James D. Murphy and Mrs. Elizabeth Lee. Director of Planning Philip B. Wa Ilick and Associate Planner Richard West of the staff presented details of the ordinance to these members of the two official bodies most directly concerned.

Taber's committee has been working with the planning staff since Jan. 1959, on the research for and drafting of the new zoning law. On an average there have been two sessions a week since then, to make policy decisions and review work as it progressed. Board Offers Aid The Board of Zoning Appeals offered suggestions for improving the draft of the new ordinance, based on members' experience in the interpretation of the present 1950 zoning law. The Zoning Committee of the Planning Board will study the suggestions for incorporation in the final draft of the ordinance, 'which will go to the Council in August.

There was favorable comment on a provision to permit the Board of Zoning Appeals to get technical assistance from the Planning Board on applications for variances. Chairman Goodman said such a provision would enable the zoning board to get more easily the many facts and technical data necessary in making decisions in zoning appeals cases. Chairman Brown said this procedure of cooperation between the boards would help keep the Planning Board up to date on the condition of the zoning ordinance as needs may change from time to time in the future. Speaking of Enfield, campers from other parts of the country are aghast when they hear of Ithaca area residents taking their tents and heading for distant campsites when vacation time comes.

One camping couple, who had stopped at public campsites across the nation for tnany years, have been coming to Enfield for the past five years, claiming that it's the best spot anywhere. The couple is from Michigan.
